The Thomas C. Assaly Charitable Foundation operates internationally in support of education, medical research and community health initiatives.
With funding from The Thomas C. Assaly Charitable Foundation, for example McMaster University produces groundbreaking neurological research under Dr. Laurie Doering, while the The Ottawa Health Research Institute (OHRI) is now poised to find a cure for Parkinsons disease as a result of the Foundations development of the OHRIs Parkinson Research Consortium. More recently, the Foundations achievements include the provision of $1.5 million in funding for the First Place Pregnancy Centre in Ottawa and sponsorship of the Monkolé Medical Centre in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) contributing to such activities as the provision of educational material and training from Canadian medical professionals to Monkolé staff.
